Toyota’s littlest hybrid is showing its age in some aspects, but overall, the 2019 Prius c is a funky little machine that’s well-sized for the city. Issue: On certain vehicles, there may be an electrical component fault. This could cause a problem with charging of the auxiliary battery. If this happens, warning lights and messages will display on the instrument panel and audible chimes will sound. If the vehicle continues to be operated with this problem, it could lose power to the drive wheels. Safety Risk: A loss of power to the drive wheels could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Toyota will notify owners by mail and instruct them to take their vehicle to a dealer to inspect the DC-DC converter. It will be replaced with a new one if necessary.
